BYD brings solid-state batteries to more affordable electric vehicles before 2030

Ana sayfa / News

Heralding that big changes are coming in the electric vehicle world, BYD announced that solid-state batteries will be used in affordable electric vehicles by 2030. This development is of serious importance in the electric vehicle industry. We know that solid-state batteries are much safer, longer lasting and superior in terms of energy density compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries. They will also significantly increase the range of more affordable electric vehicles.

According to BYD, the energy density of solid-state batteries will reach an impressive 500 Wh/kg. This means that electric vehicles will have longer ranges and can be recharged in less time.

The head of research said that solid-state batteries will first be used in premium electric vehicles in the next three years, and then spread to the medium and budget-friendly segments by 2027.

Other major players, especially CATL and Toyota, have also accelerated their work on solid-state batteries. Toyota plans to use solid-state batteries for the first time in its Lexus brand vehicles in 2027, while CATL is working hard to reduce the cost of these batteries and make them more widely available.

BYD’s prediction is a sign that electric vehicles will become not only a luxury, but also an affordable option for everyone. Thanks to solid-state batteries, long-range and fast-charging electric vehicles are likely to completely shake the throne of fossil fuel vehicles.
